Our History

Ward Holdings, a Western Australian, privately owned family business began in 1980 in the civil industry providing utility installation of High-Pressure Gas and Optic Fibre. WH Location Services was established as the company founder Michael Ward became one of the first Telstra (Communications) Accredited Plant Locators (APL) in Western Australia.

Tobi Lawrence-Ward as General Manager in 2000 established the dedicated focus on this specialist business building the business to ISO9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environment, AS4801 Occupational Health and Safety and in 2020, ISO45001 Occupational Health and Safety. Abaxa’s dedication to subsurface detection was rewarded with consistent and steady growth with an aligned client base that value, safety, damage prevention and the expertise provided in this niche industry. Tobi became the Managing Director in 2012 and has continued to lead the company to success for over 20 years.

The success and growth has continued with a mission to protect people and infrastructure, and a strategic focus to reduce asset risk. We are dedicated today to have a team of accredited, technical experts available when your project needs them, a quality rating of 99.9% on strikeless projects and quality risk based reporting to keep our valued clients projects moving.
